Translation

The virtues of Shah Ranjit Singh shine through, radiant as the sun, they have overwhelmed every other King! So His Highness Prince Kharak Singh, whose Mother was the celebrated Datar-Kaur (“The Liberal Giver”), Had readied the “Battle Winner” gun in the age of this world, which passed through 1884 (AD 1827), Thus, the cannonball Prince became its High Commander, it zealously demanded many lives, alas! as a notary of grief, by dint of Lala Singh’s offices, the Prince’s assistant, the teaching man, and the speech of the historian, and by the handwriting of Gurditar Ragir, in the year 1884 on the fifth day of (the month of) Magh (17th January 1827)

Note:

This Inscription has the only reference to Data Kaur.   The first wife of Maharajah Ranjit Singh and decorated war commander (Battle of Multan).   She was the arguably the true Maharani of the Sikh Kingdom.
