By the grace of the Eternal Being, and by the grace of Guru Nanak, and under the mercy of Gobind Singh, and by the order of Crown Prince Nau Nihal Singh, this newly ready made gun that pleased the Shah was called “The Victor in Battle” was made, as part of the Royal Artillery of Tej Singh may it be blessed by Javalamukhi (Flaming Face Goddess) in the year 1897 [AD 1840], in Lahore

This is a traditional Inscription firstly blessing God, Guru Nanak, Guru Gobind and then the Maharajah. The gun also references Javalamukhi (the Flaming Face Goddess) which has a close link to Ranjit Singh. The site of Javalamukhi was visited by Ranjit Singh in 1815 where he paid for the plating of the gold dome at the site in her honour.
